Most Often Played RPG

Recent is theme of the first couple of posts, so I’ll take a look at the games I played in 2024. Fortunately for me I put everything into my calendar so this one was easy to check. I was a bit surprised by the results, my memory was playing temporal tricks on me.

There was no doubt in my mind that the Vampire: the Masquerade game I ran for a while would be the top contender, but we only wrapped it up in 2024. It was a mini campaign/adventure that I ran to try out a Blades in the Dark hack for V:tM. This was my pitch to the players (again in Croatian, sorry), and these were the story and setting outlines (in English) I used to set up the scene. There is a lot to type up about that game, but that is not really the point of this post, so onwards….

Then I was certain that the Ironsworn game would be my most often played game. Another story for another time. It was the first part of a mini campaign a friend wrote and ran for his world in D&D 5E. I thought it would be a nice GMing challenge to run it with Ironsworn as written, and it was an extremely satisfying experience. Can’t wait to start running it again.

Drum roll please, finally we get to my most played game of 2024: Scum and Villainy! I tried to organise my college years Vampire crew into playing together again. Half of were up for it, we filled up the ranks with one significant other, and a mutual friend – and off they went to space! The game started really slow, we would usually run a job and maybe downtime per session. Then scheduling of life hit us … But we still managed to play a bit and have fun. This is my second biweekly home group, and I hope it too resumes in the Fall.
