RPG With “Good Form”

Laugh as much as you choose, but you will not laugh me out of my opinion that Good Society is the only correct answer to this prompt. Until tomorrow.

After getting the stupid joke out of my system, my second thought on the prompt went to a really old quote by Tim O’Reilly, founder of O’Reilly Media and a really interesting guy to read up on.

Create more value than you capture.

Tim O’Reilly

This simple sentiment has been with me most of my adult life, and is a large part of my preference for open source/data/community/access.

That said it would be unfair to single out a book today, so the honour has to go to Evil Hat Productions as the stellar example of a company being run by principles. They are people who care about people first, about the society we all live in, and somewhere down the line they care about their products. And their products are better for it.

I could single out the openness of their finances that Fred tends to put out. Or maybe the open licenses Fate uses. Maybe the Bits and Mortar program they pioneered? I could go on and on with examples, but let’s face it – good form might as well be rephrased to Evil Hat.
