Classic Campaign

Talking about a classic campaign for RPG a Day 2024 is pretty hard – not that I haven’t played any of them, I have barely seen any. Once I flipped through a fe Dragonlance adventures, and I’ve seen new The Enemy Within on a shelf for a minute.

So I need to turn and talk about a Dungeon World homebrew campaign called Crow tellers. Although I’d love to recall it for you, I’ll do my best not to. What made it into a classic campaign was how all the pieces fit.

We started with a session zero that set the tonem direction, and expectations beautifully. It took a little while, but the players got into the fake-Slavic world and their character beautifully. Together we weaved a low magic setting without sacrificing anything of Dungeon World. And then around midpoint decision were made and we all starte running to a two session campaign finale I will never forget.

The takeaway is: session zero it. Then make it personal. And finally, put pressure on them. If you all mix up those ingredients – magic will happen.
